Le Upanishad (उपनिषद्, letteralmente "sedersi ai piedi del maestro") sono un insieme di testi religiosi e filosofici indiani composti in lingua sanscrita a partire dal IX-VIII secolo a.C. fino al IV secolo a.C. (le quattordici Upaniṣad vediche) anche se progressivamente ne furono aggiunte di minori fino al XVI secolo raggiungendo un numero complessivo di circa trecento opere aventi questo nome.
